Ke Sklárně 3213/15, Praha MeetFactory

The show has been cancelled by the band. All ticket holders are automatically refunded. Mia Berrin's statement on behalf of the band: "I'm disappointed to announce that we have to cancel our upcoming European tour dates. If you bought tickets for one of our headline shows will be refunded. I’ve invested 100% of my savings into the Mirror Ball tour and the additional funding I needed to be able to make these overseas dates possible has fallen through suddenly and unexpectedly. Although we’ve explored many other avenues to try and make up for the deficit, we have not been able to make it work. I’m deeply saddened by the situation and was really looking forward to these shows. Performing for you all is my favorite thing in the world to do, so please know I don’t take this decision lightly.

Touring overseas as a US band is financially challenging, and I am making this decision in an effort to ensure that continuing to tour in Europe is sustainable for us in the future. For those of you who were looking forward to these shows, I am so sorry we’re missing you but I promise we’ll do everything we can to come back soon and give you the best show possible.  Thank you for your understanding, support, and patience. Trust that in the meantime we’ll be hard at work writing new songs, and scheming up ways to make the show even better."

The story of Pom Pom Squad began ten years ago when the project emerged from the vibrant underground of New York's DIY scene, initiated by frontwoman Mia Berrin. The band's sugary grunge sound, paired with their unmistakable aesthetic inspired by the films of John Waters and David Lynch, masterfully shifts between dissonant guitar noise and a pop-infused approach to contemporary songwriting. “Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle.”

A major milestone for Berrin and her band came in 2021 with the release of their melodramatic debut album Death of a Cheerleader on City Slang. This emotionally charged, glittery record draws on the punk energy of the riot grrrl movement while also embracing pop culture references. Last fall, PPS followed up with their sophomore album Mirror Starts Moving Without Me which they’re taking on a European tour. Their first headline Prague show is scheduled for June 1, 2025.

The evening will open with Karolina Beranova and her band. Rich and layered soundscapes, guitars that scratch and soothe at the same time, melancholy that doesn’t stop the motion. Karolina Beranova and her band play where shoegaze noise meets the rawness of grunge and the sensuality of alternative pop. "Her music isn't background noise; it's a mood you know, but can't quite place."
