Kateryna Mamchur

Kateryna Mamchur was born in Melitopol town (Ukraine) in 1990. She received her degree from the Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University, Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology and Fine Arts and Design. Also she studied illustration in the Projector Creative & Tech School in Kyiv. She is currently practicing performance and illustration. She has studied performing arts since 2017.

In her practices, the artist experiments with transparency and invisibility, using materials such as water and polyethylene, explores coexistence with urban space, and observes how the city or place affects the performative action. The artist works with such concepts as the body - material in art, feminism, walking art, urban planning and related topics. She invites other performers to join the group performances.

The Artist in Need residency was founded by Artivist Lab and created within the platform of the Academy of Fine Arts for Ukraine in collaboration with the Institute of Arts - Theatre Institute, Artivist Lab, MeetFactory and Artist at risk.

We consider it very important to support Ukrainian artists who are already in the Czech Republic but still cannot return home due to the upcoming war. After the experience of the first 3-month residency, we think that during the war, we cannot look at the residency only from a professional point of view, but we need to help our residents to settle down and maybe help them with their professional life in the new country.
