“Wednesday, Meatloaf Day”
MeetFactory Studio no. 22 / February – December 2009

About eight Dutch artists are going to take turns in MeetFactory studio in the course of their action-reaction project. Each of them will spend 4-6 weeks in residence there and start working on the installation completed by his predecessor. A collective art work and a collection of individual works by each artist will grow there.

This project provides the spectator with an interesting view of the progress of the collective art work and the difference between the individual art works besides the result of the action‑reaction project. This raises questions about the originality and the origin of the artist’s work.

“Wednesday, Meatloaf Day” is a Dutch saying which refers to an common habit of the Dutch. There is double meaning in this saying. In one way it is a cozy family house and in the other way it means binding and forceful in its repeating.

A webcam will be placed in the studio in the course of the whole project. At the end of each artist’s residence the project will be presented to the public in the form of OPEN STUDIO.
