Kurt Vile (born 1980) is the new darling of U.S. indie/singer-songwriter scene. During his self-directed career, he released four albums, with his third Chilidsh Prodigy, put out by Matador Records in 2009, he became a household name. Although he draws comparison to the godfathers of the genre like Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen, his music is far from old-fashioned and - thanks to his voluntary steering from mainstream towards lo-fi and noise – incredibly fresh. Last year, Kurt released his so far latest album “Smoke Ring For My Halo“, that gathered almost unanimous praise and scored high in the end-of-year polls of indie scene’s media (Pitchfork, NME, Q, Stereogum). Kurt will play his first Prague show with his band The Violators, opening will be talented local lo-fi folker J, who is (self)releasing his debut album these days.
