A painting is essentially analogue. However, Alex Neuschäfer shows that just as any image may be transcribed into binary code, even oil on canvas can be pixelated. He examines the physical, amorphic notion of a painting with a low-resolution filter, creating tension between the cold exactness of technical images and the vivid imperfection of the raw paint, which allows for mistakes and emotions.
