The cosmic psychedelia of Japanese space-rock pioneers Acid Mothers Temple, the group centered around guitarist Kawabata Makoto, returns to Prague after seven years

Acid Mothers Temple are constantly in motion. Since their formation in 1995, the now legendary band has managed to release over a hundred albums, a string of EPs and live recordings from their never-ending tours. The shapeshifting collective describes their transcendental music – which blends kaleidoscopic jams, hypnotic riffs and freak-out improv with cyclical rhythms and spacey synths – aptly as trip music. 

As part of their upcoming European tour, AMT will once again stop in Prague, this time bringing their eclectic live show to MeetFactory.

Opening the night will be Olaf Olafsonn and the Big Bad Trip, an instrumental mainstay of the Czech psychedelic scene. While the bedrock of their sound is undeniably rock psychedelia, the past decade has seen them venture into other genres – from jazz and folk to black metal. They are known for their high-energy performances in enigmatic masks, a strong emphasis on visual presentation, and collaborations with international acts including Greek outfit 1000mods and Their Methlab, American band Valley of the Sun, Norwegian outfit Devil and the Almighty Blues, Austrian project Der Blutharsch and the Infinite Church of the Leading Hand, Polish band Bön, and others.

Following two acoustic albums in 2021, the group, now expanded with a pianist and a new drummer, returns to electronic territory. In the new lineup, OOBBT recorded Soul Retrieval, released in October 2024, and they are currently working on a new album, My Spirit Animal, coming in 2026.
