Bodywork & Performance Art Workshop For Ukrainian Teens w/ Cat Jugravu (i pack*)

On Thursday, we are holding yet another edition of our series of art workshops dedicated to Ukrainian teenagers. The workshops take place at MeetFactory (tram stop Lihovar) and are free of charge, suited for kids between 10 and 18 years of age. 

What stories do you want to tell, and how are they uniquely yours? How do we write them down on paper and turn them into performance? Let us open up and share our histories and experiences through writing and body work. We will explore approaches to creative writing and what possibilities of unlocking the potential of what a body can be. You are invited to experience a shifted perspective on nature as a co-creator (partner) and act towards embodied uncertainty, vulnerability, and openness as a resource for creating performance.

This is a physical workshop so please bring comfortable clothing for movement and lots of water!

My current interest is centred around the intersection of performance, deep bodywork and politics of trauma and social activism, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ communities. It informs a practice built on four significant strands of influence: my formal education in the Stanislavski Actor Training, the further research and tutoring into physical theatre methods, the pedagogical and exploratory ensemble work and my storyline as a queer Roma, non-binary individual. In my seven years of artistic exploration, I have been focusing on generating creative work in response to the needs and rights of my community under the firm belief that through/with/for the queer body, new sociocultural methods and practices will surface.

< Cat Jugravu / BIOGRAPHY>
I am a performance artist, actor, poet and theatre director born in 1991 in Romania. I hold an MA in Applied Theatre: Artistic Practice and Society from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and a BA in Stage Acting from The National University of Theatre and Film I.L.Caragiale in Bucharest, Romania. Since 2015 I have been living in Berlin, performing in and directing independent performative encounters and spoken word theatre productions. There i founded the Queerdos Kollektiv, alongside which I am presently honing my skills as director and facilitator.

Які історії ви хочете розповісти, і чому вони унікальні для вас? Як записати їх на папір та втілити в життя? Давайте відкриємось і поділимося своєю історією та досвідом через письмову роботу та роботу над тілом. Ми досліджуємо підходи до творчого письма та можливості як розкрити потенціал того, яким може бути тіло. Наразі мій інтерес зосереджений на перетині продуктивності, глибокої роботи з тілом, політичних травм і соціальної активності, з особливим акцентом на спільнотах ЛГБТ. Це свідчить про практику, побудовану на чотирьох важливих напрямках впливу: моя офіційна освіта в Станіславському акторському тренінгу, подальші дослідження та навчання методам фізичного театру, робота педагогічного та дослідницького ансамблю та моя сюжетна лінія як квір-рома, небінарної особистості. Протягом семи років художніх пошуків я зосереджувався на створенні творчої роботи у відповідь на потреби та права моєї громади з твердою вірою в те, що через/з/для квір-тіла з’являться нові соціокультурні методи та практики.

Я артист перформансу, актор, поет і театральний режисер, народився в 1991 році в Румунії. Я маю ступінь магістра прикладного театру: мистецька практика та суспільство в Університеті Моцартеум в Зальцбурзі, Австрія, і ступінь бакалавра сценічної гри в Національному університеті театру і кіно імені І. Л. Карагіале в Бухаресті, Румунія.
