Jan Matýsek: Fuj Tajxl!! Stick Your Finger Through the Death.

The Kostka Gallery exhibition called “Fuj Tajxl!! Strč prst skrz smrt” by the artist and scenographer Jan Matýsek elaborates on his diploma thesis of the same name from the last year, which was exhibited at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. The inner theme of his “personal demon” is concerned with the topics of transhumanism, ecofeminism, and corporeality with psychotherapeutic means of hypnosis and enchantment. Using 3D technologies and with the aesthetic of visual queer and drag elements, he unfolds the new sequel of his videoart, including the scenographic installation.

Jan Matýsek (*1994) is a visual artist and scenographer. He develops his own stories and myths from his outward and inward perceptions. He explains the phenomena in heaven and Earth through their associations and causalities. He combines the topics of transhumanism, ecofeminism, and corporeality with psychotherapeutic means of hypnosis and enchantment. He creates mostly videos, highlighting imagination of the unconscious. His videos become a part of video installations, imaginary ritual spaces, and directly communicate with audiences, mediating the transformation or transcendency on an inner level. He is inspired by shamanistic practices of initiations, consecration, and awareness of the hidden. He graduated from the feministic New Media 2 Studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and Set and Costume Design Department of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno. He was also on a stay at the Experimental Film Studio of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). He is a curator of the Umakart Gallery in Brno.
