The music of Kathryn Mohr occupies a dusky liminal space of elusive auditory dissociation. This coming November, the Oakland-based artist will bring her critically acclaimed record Waiting Room to MeetFactory

Mohr's melancholic noise folk on her new album Waiting Room (The Flenser) — where droning walls of guitar distortion blend with atmospheric field recordings and hazy vocals — was titled Best New Music in Pitchfork's glowing review earlier this year. The album, a meditative exploration of the ephemeral nature of humanity, the warping of memory, and the effects of trauma on one's experience of this world, was created over the course of a month in eastern Iceland.

In the quiet isolation of the fishing town Stöðvarfjörður, Mohr spent hours immersed in the writing and recording of this album in a windowless concrete room lit with a string of multicolored light bulbs, taking breaks to wander the shoreline, field recorder in hand. A collection of eleven songs was born, an album that is a processing of emotions often unreachable, buried, or unnamed. For fans of Grouper, kranky, JessicaBailiff, and PJ Harvey.

Kathryn Mohr takes her new album Waiting Room on a European tour this coming fall, featuring a premiere show in Prague​ on November 11.

The evening will open with Čáry života, the songwriter project of Jan Boroš from the bands Fiordmoss and Tichonov. At his solo show in MeetFactory, he will present Čáry života's new studio album Sluníčko, a collection of songs capturing the artist’s journey towards finding a new place in life, blending indie-folk songwriting with influences of soul, French pop, and electronica.
