Laurel Halo presents Atlas live with Leila Bordreuil + Sítě

Sonic alchemist Laurel Halo presents her new album Atlas at MeetFactory in a joint live set with renowned Brooklyn-based experimental cellist Leila Bordreuil.

Atlas is the first chapter of the artist's own label Awe, an electro-acoustic ambient collage of deeply immersive soundscapes that invite the listener on a journey into the unmapped realms of their own subconscious. 

Halo laid the foundation for the new record ​back in 2020 when she reacquainted herself with the piano, an instrument that played a pivotal role in her early musical development, at a residency in LA's Pacific Palisades. Atlas​ is largely acoustic in nature, comprised of sensual ambient jazz instrumentation, subtle neoclassical elements, shades of modal harmony, hidden sonic details, and droning, hallucinatory textures. The record features contributions from Halo's fellow collaborators Coby Sey, Lucy Railton, Bendik Giske and James Underwood. 

The record was titled Album of the Year 2023 by the independent music platform Boomkat.

Local psychedelic drone project Sítě is opening the night. Currently formed by Jan Tomáš (Tomáš Palucha, Lvmen), Jan Kašpar (Obelisk of Light, Raw Deal) and Tomáš Vondra (Orient, Ginger Wizard), the band is experimenting with the possibilities of modular synthesizer sound in combination with digital deconstruction of wind instruments (saxophone). The result is a hypnotic voyage through the various twists and turns of an endlessly flowing sonic river.
