Summer Cinema: Old Joy

In the case of rain, we will, as a special exception, move the Summer Cinema screening to the music hall. The Live Talk with Will Oldham, aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, will take place at 9:30 p.m. The film will be screened in its original language with Slovak subtitles.

A road movie featuring music by Yo La Tengo, with Will Oldham (a.k.a. Bonnie “Prince” Billy) in one of the leading roles. Two old friends, Kurt and Mark, reunite after many years to spend a weekend together on a trip to the Cascade Mountains east of Portland, Oregon. As they journey through the changing landscape towards a hot spring deep in the forest, they realise that their lives have long since taken different paths. The joy of their old friendship evokes in both of them melancholic memories of a bygone youthful idealism that has been irretrievably lost. What can replace it?

The event will begin with a Live Talk featuring Will Oldham, aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, who plays one of the leading roles, moderated by music programmer Václav Havelka.

Summer Cinema returns to MeetFactory for the fourteenth time. A curated selection of eleven films will be screened in the Factory's backyard, as selected by the members of the venue's team. In June and July, the screenings begin at 9:30 p.m.; in August and September at 8:30 p.m. Before the film, the current exhibitions in MeetFactory Gallery and Kostka Gallery can be visited free of charge. A bar is available on site, and admission to all screenings is free.
