The BOO International Short Film Festival is a Prague-based festival of contemporary European short films, which brings together short films, audience engagement, audiovisual education and a European industry programme. From 2 to 8 November 2026, BOO will showcase films by established filmmakers as well as new talents, following works screened at major international and European festivals. As part of this year’s edition, a screening of animated films accompanied by live music will be held on Friday, November 6, at MeetFactory.
Animated shorts with live music for the youngest
For parents with children from 4 years old, kindergartens, years 1–3 of primary schools
Price: 150 Kč per child; accompanying teachers go free of charge
Programme duration is 60 minutes.
The Animated shorts for the youngest programme combines screenings of short animated films with original musical performance created live on stage. The musicians blend electronic sounds with live instruments, and their performance responds to the images on screen, the atmosphere in the auditorium and the children themselves. The performance demonstrates that music is an integral part of film – it accounts for up to half of the cinematic experience, and its variations can fundamentally alter the meaning and tone of scenes. Audience will experience how the same image can become suspenseful, cheerful or poetic simply thanks to the musical accompaniment.
Live music will be performed by musician and composer Petr Wajsar.
Screened films:
A Pain In the Butt
Dreaming of Flight
Full Nest
Hotel Oblique
The Motherless Egg
The Sky Was Candy
Virtuoso Virtual
Petr Wajsar is a Czech composer who works across a wide range of genres. His work includes not only concert classical music, but also film and theater music. He has collaborated with leading Czech orchestras and institutions (Prague Spring, Czech Philharmonic, FOK, and many others). He is the winner of the 2019 Czech Lion Award for his music for the film Hastrman. He is the leader of the renowned vocal a cappella sextet Skety. In addition, he is a lover of electronic and improvised music, and today you can hear him in two projects: the duo Wayskal and Vejsar, in which he plays with his colleague Michal Vejsak, and in the expanded form of his project Develooper.
