Welcome to Bugland. No Joy's fifth album is the next chapter in a brave mission to reinvent shoegaze. The experimental Montreal band will head to Prague for the very first time this coming November.
Behind the adventurous, genre-bending project No Joy stands multidimensional artist Jasamine White-Gluz. What began in 2009 as a conventional indie duo has since transformed into an experimental musical platform that pushes the boundaries of contemporary guitar music in a singular way. Pitchfork awarded their latest album Bugland the title of Best New Music, describing it in a review as “at once a perfect album for our current shoecraze and unlike any other record alongside which it might be discussed.”
Already with their debut LP Ghost Blonde back in 2010, No Joy got signed with the independent label Mexican Summer, who released their first three studio albums. A breaking point came later in 2020 with Motherhood, which marked the beginning of a new era for the project: with its release, the duo became a solo act, now working with Joyful Noise Recordings, with a sound expanding into boldly experimental spheres, where hybrid dream pop and shoegaze meet trip-hop and nu-metal. With their latest LP Bugland, No Joy return to Prague after more than ten years. Save the date: November 1, 2025.
