Open Call: Artists at risk residency

MeetFactory opens a new call for applications for an art residency in 2026. The open call is intended for foreign artists living in Prague who have moved to the Czech Republic for various reasons, including those related to war conflicts, social or political circumstances, or other life challenges. This residency is open to creators who, for these reasons, are looking for a new environment to work in and want to share their perspective and experience with the local and international artistic community.

The residency includes:

• studio at MeetFactory;

• monthly allowance for expenses in the amount of CZK 17,000;

• production budget in the amount of  CZK 10 000 / Open Studios (presentation of work to the public);

• international networking, curatorial and production support.​

Residency duration:

• February 1 - May 31, 2026

The residency must be completed in the specified period and it is not possible to interrupt it.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• prove a professional career of at least 2 years (including realized individual and group exhibitions and project proposals);

• have completed studies;

• adjust their professional commitments in favor of active participation in the residency program at MeetFactory, such as Open Studios, coffee hours and other regular meetings (a necessary condition for receiving the monthly allowance).

The open call is not age-restricted.

The application must include:

• curriculum vitae;

• a portfolio of maximum 10 pages;

• motivational letter with a maximum of 3,600 characters, which will contain: 1. artist statement, 2. description of how the applicant will use the residency as part of her or his artistic practice; 3. an explanation of the circumstances that led the applicant to move from their country or place of residence to the Czech Republic.

Selection procedure:

• Applications will be reviewed by a board composed of members of the MeetFactory residency program team.

• The results will be published by November 30, 2025 on the MeetFactory website.

• The selection board reserves the right to reject any project without giving reasons for the decision. The decision is final, it is not possible to appeal against it.

•  Applicants will be informed about the results of the selection procedure by e-mail on November 30, 2025, and we will also publish the results on the MeetFactory website. 

Application deadline:

• up to and including November 2, 2025. Applications after this date will not be accepted for the selection process.
