The International Centre for Contemporary Art MeetFactory together with CEAAC in collaboration with the French Institute in Prague (as part of the Villa Bohêma residency program) is opening a new call for applications for a three-month residency for an artist from the Czech Republic at CEAAC in Strasbourg (France) in 2026.
ABOUT CEAAC:
Founded in 1987, Centre européen d’actions artistiques contemporaines (CEAAC) aims to support, produce and promote contemporary creation for all audiences. Located in an Art Nouveau building in the heart of Strasbourg since 1995, CEAAC organises exhibitions and events showcasing the richness and diversity of regional, national and international contemporary creation. Its artistic program and areas of research include the status of images in a fast-changing environment, vernacular culture and know-how, and public health issues. In parallel, the institution develops and implements specific outreach programmes for schools (all grades from nursery to university) and audiences with specific needs. For over twenty years, CEAAC has been organising residencies for artists and researchers in collaboration with a large network of institutions and cultural organisations.
CEAAC’s choice will focus on practices with relevant connections to the following areas of research:
Modes of production, reproduction and circulation of images;
Vernacular, local and popular knowledge;
Public health issues.
The artist residencies include:
Accommodation in a shared apartment right next to CEAAC in Strasbourg; a studio at La virgule;
Return transport from the place of residence in the Czech Republic to Strasbourg in economy class up to a maximum of CZK 5,000;
a fixed allowance of CZK 75,000 (CZK 25,000 gross per month) including production and living expenses related to the residency;
access to a bicycle during the stay;
curatorial and production support from the CEAAC team and contact with the local art scene.
Residency dates:
The residency will take place from May 1 to July 31, 2026.
The residency cannot be completed in multiple parts.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
be active on the Czech art scene for at least 2 years;

be available for the duration of the residency;
there is no age limit;
a presentation of the research results is required at the end of the residency;

A motivation letter of no more than 1,800 characters explaining the reasons for the residency, including a project proposal and an idea of its implementation, with particular emphasis on how the residency could benefit the applicant's artistic practice or professional trajectory.
Selection process:
Applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of staff members of the MeetFactory residency program, the cultural attaché of the French Institute in Prague, and representatives of CEAAC. The committee reserves the right to reject any project without reasoning. The committee's decision is final and cannot be appealed. The partner institutions reserve the right to suspend, shorten, extend, or postpone the Call for Applications: Residency in Strasbourg.
Application deadline:
The deadline for applications is November 2, 2025. Applications sent after this date will not be included in the selection process.
