Evenings under the Blowtorch

The Czech "national revival" evolved in the early nineteenth century with cultural emancipation of the Roma in the Czech Republic at the end of the twentieth century. What is he role played by the Czech and Romani "revival" of folklore and literature? How is it reflected in the relationship to the dominant culture (Czechs to Germany vs Czechs to Roma)? In both cases was there an establishment of a new national identity? These issues will be discussed Alena Scheinostova and Daniel Soukup.
