Alexandra Meyer

Alexandra Meyer (b. 1984) is a Swiss-born artist whose practice centers around the body—both as a point of departure and as material. Her work seeks to recast the everyday and the familiar through subtle shifts in perspective, using reduction to illuminate and question existential themes. Her predominantly conceptual approach is grounded in an intensive process of observation and research.

Meyer's background in medicine often informs her artistic practice, becoming evident through the use of specific materials and performative actions. She is particularly drawn to the ambivalence of the body—its simultaneous strength and fragility—which fuels her exploration of the space between attraction and repulsion.

In recent years, Meyer has focused on video and object-based work. Her projects include ephemeral soap sculptures and a collaboration with an ocularist documenting the process of crafting her glass eyes, offering a poetic reflection on perception, materiality, and identity.
