Alice De Mont creates characters, props and
sculptures, which she then uses in an installation, setting or film. In her
work De Mont makes distinction between human - and anthropomorphic characters.
The characters, props and sculptures are categorized in series, according to a
made-up system. For example, props that have arisen from the creation of a
scenography, are classified as: filmsculpturen. The characters and sculptures
are established in a process of ongoing conflict between: conceptual and visual
characteristics, idea and elaboration, reason and imagination, reality and
fiction. The characters are often tormented souls who in their discourse,
reflect on the significance and meaning of their existence. Each element has
the potential to change shape or to be recycled into new work.
