Andréa Le Guellec

Andréa Le Guellec (b. 1996, France) creates speculative audiovisual environments that expose and reenact our surveillance economy. By blending fiction with documentary techniques, she explores narratives that examine the power dynamics embedded in media stories.

RESIDENCY PROJECT

Andréa’s research will begin with the vernacular figure of the Polednice (or noonwraith) a female spirit from Slavic folklore said to haunt the fields during the hottest hours of the day. Appearing in the bestiaries of fantasy literature and immortalized by Antonín Dvořák in his symphonic poem of the same name, this hybrid entity will form the foundation of a short fiction film combining live-action footage with computer-generated imagery.
