Bartosz Kokosiński was born in 1984 in Siewierz. He graduated from the
Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków.
His works reflect upon contemporary painting and its relation to reality.
On the one hand, in the series “Paintings Devouring Reality” his canvases feed
on real objects and forcefully deform them, hiding them rather than revealing.
They also touch upon the question of collecting and hoarding things. On the
other hand, Kokosińki discovers that paintings can be corporeal in nature, with
wrinkles, folds, and deformations, as if they were aging, weighed down by their
past.
