Chen Cohen (b. 1983, Tel Aviv, Israel), is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, video, installation and performance living and working in Tel Aviv.

Cohen’s practice hovers around the rights of healing. She invents rituals, creates situations, hijacks existing frameworks to her own needs and establishes collaborations with fellow artists and patients, in an all-encompassing attempt to capture the elusive state of health and wellness, of taking charge of her own body. In her work process, she submerges in the ideas she researches, and they enter every possible aspect of her personal life, while the camera acts as a witness to this process.

From actions and performances, Cohen accumulates moments and materials used to create the exhibition space. There, they take their final form: videos of long-duration performances, Xerox prints, and manipulated photographs. While some are chosen out of a video drawing documenting a more prolonged action, others are manipulated still photos taken after a long, meticulous preparation for their taking.
