Elena Pecenová

Elena Pecenová (*1994) focuses on performance art and contemporary literature in her praxis. Presently, she develops the art novels. She has published two books of poetry Jako bych očima fotografovala stále ty stejné snímky (NAVU, 2022) and Na cestu zpět si zapínám skryté titulky (Adolescent, 2023). She is a member of the PGS collective. Until 2021, she used to be the editor-in-chief of the contemporary poetry digital curator platform Psí víno where she curates to this day. She was one of the finalists of the František Halas Literary Award and she received a prize in the international literary competition Básne SK/CZ 2019. Her performances were included on many shows, including the Prague Quadrennial, FACT FESTIVAL in Budapest or Next Wave Festival at the Komedie Theater in Prague. Her videos were presented at the Marienbad Film Festival and Screensaver Gallery in New York. She participated at art residences in the contemporary performing art center Katapult in Berlin and Bakelit Multi Art Center in Budapest.

Education:

Between 2014 and 2016, she studied at the Object – Space – Action Studio of Jiří Kovanda at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem. In 2022, she received her degree at the Intermedia 2 Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. During he studies, she took part in study stays, for example, at the Šaloun’s Studio under the tutelage of Pavel Büchler, Printmaking 2 Studio of Vladimír Kokolia, or Faculdade de Belas Artes UPORTO under the tutelage of Miguel Leal.
