Ernest Borowski

Ernest Borowski (b. 1998, Poland) is queer interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in Warsaw. Their practice investigates myth, speculative ecology, and non-linear temporality, focusing on fragmented symbolic systems, post-human imaginaries, and the erosion of dominant narratives. Working at the intersection of materiality and virtuality, they explore entanglements of technology and natureculture, distributed forms of subjectivity, and affective interdependence between human and non-human agents. Through object-based installations, immersive audiovisual environments, and performative strategies, they examine how meaning persists, mutates, or collapses within symbolic and cultural structures.

Speculative methods, worldbuilding, and fiction function in their work as critical tools for reimagining social, ecological, and ontological paradigms. Rather than offering coherent narratives, their projects create spaces of ontological uncertainty that resist linear interpretation and foreground embodied presence, fragmentation, and sensory attunement.

RESIDENCY PROJECT

In the frame of the Deconstructing Myths residency, Ernest will examine myth not as a stable narrative of origin, but as a structure that erodes, mutates, and persists in fragments. They will approach ruins - material, ecological, and ideological - as carriers of unresolved imaginaries linked to modernity, progress, and national identity. Rather than reconstructing dominant narratives, the project will consider what remains when symbolic systems lose coherence yet retain influence. Through speculative and site-responsive research, the artist will investigate fragmentation, non-linear temporality, and environmental memory, translating these inquiries into spatial and material experiments. Processes of decay and transformation may inform the development of hybrid forms - objects, sonic environments, textual traces, or interactive constellations - that appear as remnants of a partially illegible order.
