Eva Fajčíková (b.1990) is a Slovak-born, Prague-based painter, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, whose artistic practice has long addressed, among other things, the female experience, or whose work is strongly focused on the subversion of today's world order. In her practice, she combines elements of pre-existing mythologies, folklore and spirituality, and as a result creates a personal mythology that crystallizes into figurative paintings with exclusively female characters. In addition, she deals with the concept of poisonous herbariums and gardens, where nature is a dangerous element, depicted as a primordial wilderness untouched by humanity, chaos amidst the never-ending storms. The result is paintings with olfactory elements and fragrant objects.
Date of residence: 1. 8. – 31. 8. 2025
RESIDENCY PROJECT
Eva will be creating an olfactory and ritual environment, the “Game Palace of Hell Master” expressed through paintings, scented relics, fetish objects and ritual artefacts of a hidden world, imbued with molecules and wax, bound to this reality by chains. Her themes are chaos, harvest, ritual, ruin and saprophytic mushrooms. The inspiration for this project, among many, are Slovakian ballads, specifically the Yellow Lilly by Ján Botto.
