About
The works of chilean artist Javier Rodríguez (1981), forms part of an investigation which, from a perspective of figure drawing, comics, and social sciences, has attempted to approximate the formats of historical essay, political graphics, and the language of cinema, with the goal of exploring images and narratives stemming from scenarios of political violence in Chile, specifically those linked to the overthrow of socialism, and the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973 - 1989).
Rodríguez is based in Valencia, Spain. Recent solo exhibitions and residencies include: Izolyatsia, Kiev; Alfaragrafica, Salamanca (all 2018); Metales Pesados Visual Gallery Santiago (2017); Museum of Solidarity Salvador Allende, Santiago (2016), Matadero, Madrid (2015), Laznia, Gdansk; Flora ars+natura, Bogota (all 2014). In 2017 he produced his first graphic novel "Anticristo" (Metales Pesados Publisher). Currently, he work in his doctoral research, different exhibitions projects and his next graphic novel "Cobra".
