Leon Eisermann
Leon Eisermann is an artist born in former East Berlin in 1987.
He currently lives and works in Berlin.
Working mostly in painting and sculpture, Eisermann investigates enduring symbols within popular culture's artifacts and clichés, sampling and weaving together imagery from current events with nostalgic tropes. His visual practice is greatly informed by his experiences working within the club and techno landscapes of post-wall Berlin and by the city's rapid transformation towards capitalism. His work seeks to tease out the dual nature of humor, as it encompasses deep fear, desperation, and melancholia.
Leon Eisermann's residency is based on the invitation of curator Christina Gigliotti.
This residence in MeetFactory is in collaboration with the Goethe Institute in Prague.
