Markéta Magidová

Markéta Magidová is a visual artist working predominantly within the medium of moving image, sculpture and photography. She mostly deals with decoding of various collective, especially gender stereotypes, and analyses collectively shared emotions or problems. The theme of social rules correlates in her work with a visual form - she is interested in collective exercises, group patterns, traditional festivities and rituals, as well as decorative patterns, ornamentation and geometric stylization of real forms. Sculptures and ornaments represent not only perceptible phenomena, but also work as a reference of the sedimented representation of relationships and power structures.

Education:

She holds a Bachelor in Photography (UTB), Master in Video Studies (FaVU VUT) and History and Theory of Arts (UMPRUM), she also participated in a number of internships in intermedia studios. She is currently finishing her doctoral studies at the Department of Aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
