Marty Quell

Marty Quell (b. 1999) is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and performer from Ireland, now based in London. With a background in theatre, he moved to London at 21 to pursue acting. Currently studying Illustration and Visual Media at the University of the Arts London, Marty also writes stand-up comedy, theatre, and screenplays. His work weaves together self-reflection, space awareness, and the use of abnormality and masked mysteries as layers behind simple memories and thoughts. His practice spans writing, painting, and filmmaking.

RESIDENCY PROJECT

The World of Donny / Donny Tsar

Donny Tsar is a fully formed world further explored through artistic expression that mirrors both reality and fiction. Marty will develop the world of Donny through a series of experiments, ranging from the creation of a language and the writing of a script to the production of paintings that accompany a hand-built set. The characters, all performed by a single actor wearing multiple masks throughout the performance, will also be developed over the course of the residency.
