Nasrin Abu Baker

RESIDENCY PROJECT – TEXTURE OF TIME

For her residency at MeetFactory, Nasrin proposes an interdisciplinary installation that merges photography, textiles, and construction materials to explore the transformation of memory and space. Building on the artistic investigations initiated during her residency at the Albright Institute in East Jerusalem (2024), supported by Jerusalem Culture Unlimited (JCU), this project will engage with archival family photographs, carpets, household objects, and raw materials such as concrete, integrating them into a new spatial and conceptual context.

By reimagining and intervening in the landscapes and atmospheres captured in old family photographs, Nasrin seeks to construct alternative narratives that challenge historical and social interpretations of domestic and public spaces. Through textile layering, sculptural elements, and material juxtaposition, the work will deconstruct the past and reconstruct it within a contemporary visual language.
