Nicolás Dupont

Nicolás Dupont (1983) lives and works as a freelance artist in Leipzig. He studied from 2006 to 2012 at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden where he was a master student with Prof. Ralf Kerbach until 2014. In 2010 he studied for a year as an Erasmus student at the  University of Fine Arts Vienna, in the class of Amelie von Wulffen. Since 2014 he lives and works in Leipzig. 

In his painting he processes banal and everyday themes in a playful form to ironic to sar- castic representations and thus reflects energetically and confidently everyday things from his immediate environment. With a distanced gaze he looks at the obvious and makes use of the dull and insipid facts, which he gives a dazzling coat of paint and nimbly points out their bizarre core.  He lives his art in the immediate. It is in small to large formats that he unfolds a pictorial world that vacillates between figuration and abstraction, between jest and tense contemplation.
