Rita Koszorus (b. 1989, Bratislava) focuses on the pragmatic and metaphorical “search for home and certainty” within broader socio-political and personal contexts. A shared experience of losing one’s sense of belonging—shaped by professional, personal, environmental, social, and political pressures—generates a collective longing for safety and stability. Her work explores themes of nomadic existence, remembrance, memory, and absurdity through painting, installation, collage, and soft sculpture, with an emphasis on perceiving time as a bodily experience of material. Her visual language merges abstract forms with surreal visions.
Residency dates: 30. 3. – 30. 5. 2026
RESIDENCY PROJECT
Within the framework of the MeetFactory residency, Koszorus approaches the project as research into the space between delusion and safety, while reflecting on nomadic existence. She develops her practice through painting, sewing, and video, creating scenographic environments that translate the embodied qualities of her abstract paintings into immersive spatial situations. This process involves experimenting with new materials and skills, as objects take on performative roles in dialogue with the body. The principle of illusion functions as both a visual and conceptual tool for constructing a sense of safety—something continuously sought in the home, in relationships, in love, and even in conceptions of death.
