Tash Keddy (b. 1995) is an Aotearoa/New Zealand-born and Prague-based artist who works in photography, sculpture, and installation. Working outwards from research into music, architecture, industrial objects, and clinical psychoanalytic theory, his practice questions the use-value of things, words, and ways of somatic perception.
Based on scientific research, the artist’s practice merges various forms to construct mental landscapes illuminated by ethnoreligious beliefs and flooded by biopolitics.
Date of residency: 01.02. – 30.06.2025
RESIDENCY PROJECT
During the residency period at MeetFactory, Tash will be developing research towards Security Studies, an ongoing project. Security Studies explores the tension between industrial and post-industrial objects and human needs for safety, contrasting ideas of protection with those of suspicion. Working with analogue photographic darkroom processes, he will adapt this knowledge onto sculptural surfaces such as found metal, ceramic, and plastic, culminating in sculptures and material for a wider installation concept.
