Jakub Hájek & František Hanousek: Honour Glands

The exhibition of the artist duo Jakub Hájek and František Hanousek at the Kostka Gallery will present a site-specific installation building on their previous joint projects, whether in the form of architectural concepts of collective exhibitions or their own objects and drawings. Hájek and Hanousek's work is characterised by an obsessively detailed treatment of mostly recycled and waste materials - especially wood, intricately spliced wires or tetra-paks glued together into large pipe or other structures - from which they create inspiringly multi-layered, hybridised and absurdly elaborate works, whose function is often hidden from the viewer in all the overwhelming layers of provisionality and set design.

In addition to their large-scale scenography, however, both artists will focus on their hitherto less accentuated drawing position at the Kostka Gallery, presenting large-scale pen drawings with schematic narrative labyrinths of industrialised socio-political structures as part of their installation.
