The opening day of Universal Hospitality 2 exhibition was within the Public House on 3 March 2017.
Guided tour with the curator Jaro Varga will take place in MeetFactory Gallery on 13 March.
.
The exhibition is in the collaboration with Centrum současného umění Futura.
In the rapidly changing world dismantling of elements of democracy and rising populism became the mainstream even in the affluent countries. The European Union is endangered by Brexit and Eastern European nationalisms and corruption, while authoritarianism and state control is emerging in different countries encouraged by the regime change in the United States. Socially committed artists are looking behind the Potemkin wall, and search for interconnections and drives behind the downward social spiral. The exhibitions aim to stimulate the deeper understanding of the elements behind the changes, and to galvanize progressives. Next to providing criticism they aim to fortify resistance as well. Instead of providing stake-less entertainment the exhibitions offer a sort of visual analysis of complex social processes in a turbulent time.
