The exhibition of Nik Timková at Kostka Gallery articulates a scenographically composed environment in which interior and exterior, obverse and reverse, the intimate and the institutional interpenetrate to the point of indiscernibility. Visitors may step into its deliberately exposed stage set, sit, touch, and—through this haptic encounter—trace the key working principles of the artist’s practice.
Timková has long pursued the deconstruction of clothing toward large-scale textile architecture, coupling the material corporeality of fabric with sculptural and scenographic functions; she interweaves digital collage with pop-cultural, new-gothic, esoteric, and manga iconographies, grounded in DIY and post-internet strategies of appropriation. Over the course of the exhibition the installation will be further activated by reading-performative sessions of the Björnsonova collective, with whom the artist shares feminist and ecofeminist orientations and a ritual engagement with text and the body. In this way, Kostka temporarily becomes a laboratory-stage where social meanings are read through material, touch, and shared rituals.
