Caroline Creutzburg

Caroline Creutzburg, born in Berlin, lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. She studied Applied Theatre Studies in Gießen and Costume Design at the Universität der Künste in Berlin as well as Digital Culture at the Universtitet i Bergen, Norway and Sound and Light at Ècole nationale supérieure des arts et techniques du théâtre in Lyon, France as an exchange student. 

She is initiator, author and artistic head of her own stage performances, continuously looking into the possibilities of collaboration. Her latest works have been the solo performance "Nerve Collection" that deals with the troubles of articulating a state-of-the-self (2016) and "What On Earth", a performance based on a choir, material-protagonists and their sounds (2018). Her works persistently follow frame sets that are strong and open at the same time. Consciously trying to preserve this condition she developes a mode of performing on stage that is organized around inner logics. Through this dramaturgies of subtle consistency occur. She always carries the question of the allegedly banal, of implicite forms of adressing and of the values of entertainment.

She holds the 2018 Ponto Performance Price, she collaborates with Mousonturm Frankfurt am Main and Sophiensaele Berlin and her work has been shown in 100° Festival in Berlin, Spielart Festival Munich, Freischwimmer Festival (Germany / Austria / Switzerland) and Bâtard Festival Brussels and Amsterdam. Next to her own projects she collaborates as a costume designer and light designer in the works of her contemporaries.
