Folke Koberling & Martin Kaltwasser

Folke Köbberling (*1969) and Martin Kaltwasser (*1965) live and work in Los Angeles and Berlin. 

Folke Köbberling studied Fine Arts at Kunsthochschule Kassel/Germany and at the Emily  Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver and received her MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel/Germany.

Martin Kaltwasser studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, Germany before he studied the Technical University Berlin, where he made his Diploma in Architecture. 
Both are currently guest scholars at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, in the Fine Art Graduate Program. 

They gave lectures and workshops at the Metropolitan University in London, University of Arts, Berlin, ( Architecture and Industrial Design Program) , the University of Kassel, ( Fine Arts Program) ETH Zürich, Akademy of Fine Arts HFBK, Hamburg, University of Innsbruck, ( Urban Studies Program).

  They have exhibited extensively in Germany and internationally and were most recently included in the 2009 Architecture Biennial in Sao Paulo and Martha Museum, Herford (Germany). Recent solo exhibitions include Power Plant, Marfa/USA (2010), Galerie Anselm Dreher, Berlin (2009), Ujadowski Castle CSW, Warsaw/PL (2009), Architekturgalerie am Weißenhof, Stuttgart (2009), Artforum Berlin (2007) Lothringer 13/Laden, Munich (2008), Simultanhalle, Cologne (2008), Shedhalle , Zurich (2007).

In 2009 Köbberling/Kaltwasser were artist in residence of CSW in Warsaw/PL , Villa Serpentara, Italy and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa/USA. 

Recent awards include a grant from the Senate of Berlin/Cultures affairs and a grant from Kunstfonds Bonn to publish their new book "Hold it!" Their next exhibitions/projects will be in spring at the maison Folie de Wazemmes in Lille /France, in Gdansk/Poland and in London/England (in public space), as well in the Bergamont Station in Santa Monica/Los Angeles, where they transform a car into bicycles with the students of the Art Center College of Design and in Vancouver in a postolympic project in summer 2010.
