Tomáš Kajánek employs primarily the media of photography, video and
performance. In his work, he enters the gaps, found on the edges of social
phenomena. His actions embody the issues of today so as to make them a matter
of concern. While his early work usually deals with the question of agency –
the individual’s capacity to act within rigid social structures, recently Kajánek
moved on to a possibilities of new technologies may change recently known
infrastructure.
In particular he is focused on an implementation of 3D printing which was
named as a new industrial revolution. Application of 3D printing contributed to
a collapsing distinction of digital data and physical object and it also
brought urgency in the matters of the liberty. Democratization of the
manufacturing shows new scenarios of society which are the basis for his recent
work.
He has exhibited his work in
the Czech Republic as well as in Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, the Netherlands
and Belgium. For Vienna Biennale 2015 he participated in research project with
A. Żmijewski Speaking (of) Monuments in the exhibition Performing Public Art.
