Info on the 2015-2016 project:
SYNAPSE was a project of mutual exchange between Norwegian and Czech artistic communities - the exchange of culture and experience - initiated by Insomnia festival in Tromsø, Norway, on the one hand and MeetFactory, Prague, Center for Live Culture on the other. Synapse Project was more than “just” a bilateral exchange of artists. The artists were be put in context with the environment where they will present their art, establish contacts with the local scene and exchange their experience. And, of course, it was also about presenting contemporary art and culture to the wide spectrum of viewers in both partner countries.
SYNAPSE 2015 funded by the EEA Grants 2009-2014, see www.norskefondy.cz
Participating artists:
Lars TCF Holdhus (NO) & Martin Kohout (CZ): DungeonTT
A modular performative installation by Norwegian musician Lars Holdhus (releasing under TCF moniker) and Czech artist Martin Kohout (Jindřich Chalupecký award nominee), created out of ceramics, tea and 4-channel sound. DungeonTT is to be experienced both as an exhibition and a platform for their take on Japanes, Chinese and Western tea ceremonies, offering something in between a conversation, a casual cup of tea and a different way of experiencing this 6000 year old drink. A work commissioned by Insomnia Festival and MeetFactory, Czech premiere.

Paranoid London (UK)
Vinyl only. Limited. Own record label. Pure analogue machinery. I can’t really get more original than that. Their records sell out before they even reach the stores. Who needs a time machine when Paranoid London – indeed is a time machine. So grab your old smiley face T-shirt, put on a happy grin on your face and get on the dancefloor! Their live set is the most energetic, unpredictable, raw electronic music show out there. Let there be 303. Let there be Acid. House. A Czech premiere.

Demdike Stare (UK)
A collaboration between Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker, two childhood friends from the North of England with voracious appetites for record collecting. The pair started working in earnest back in 2008, re-appropriating sounds they had spent a lifetime cataloguing into weird and immersive music of their own, releasing a trio of albums (Symbiosis, Tryptych and Elemental), loosely themed around the occult and the rich heritage of Library music. From 2013 onwards, the ongoing series of exploratory 12” under “Testpressing” banner appears on Modern Love, finding Demdike heading onto more intense, brutal terrain. A Czech premiere.
